We just purchased a new 2014 artic cat prowler xtx 700 today. Brought it home and it ran fine for approximately 3 miles. It started making a loud rattling noise then quit. It would not start back. Put it in neutral and it started but will now not go into any gear. It also will not start in park. I am pretty disappointed. The prowler has about 20 miles on it is all and we didn't even have it home 20 min before it messed up.

Sure sounds like a wet clutch spring broke and it locks the clutch up as soon as you start it. Call your dealer for service.

Is this thread dead?

Wondering if this thread can be reactivated? I have the exact same problem and it would seem that the one way bearing is at fault. At least one could reasonably assume that is the case. I took my '15 hdx into the dealer while it was just out of warranty with 140 miles and they did me a favor by fixing it. worked for about 30 miles threw my plow on got about half the driveway done and she did it again. What the hell?

Anyway going to tear it down and pull the one way bearing out tonight.

Arctic Cat had a notice posted regarding the one way bearing. They advised removing the bearing for 1) Pulling Heavy loads, 2) Heavy load in machines, 3) Plowing. I have a 2009 700 XTX (same powertrain as current models) and I pulled the one way bearing out several years ago! Still have engine braking, although it free wheels below 10 mph. It eliminated a lot of noise, and feels much smoother on take off! So now I have several 75 dollar paperweights! LOL

HI
I recently bought a low mile (14 miles) 2014 Prowler 700 HDX. I put about 50 miles on this fall and put the plow on for the winter, I plowed a couple inch snowfall once and then started a 6 inch snowfall yesterday when it made a lot of noise and died. Now it dies when put in gear. It sounds like the one way bearing discussed in this forum, but would like to know if you can just remove it or if there is anything else needed

Curious as to what you find! The one way bearing may not be the problem if it dies as soon as you put it in gear. May be wet clutch related. Broken spring, or weak spring. Hard to diagnose on the forum!

Removed the One way bearing last week, took care of the problem. Mine also would basically quit running when it went to the crapper... again. It runs great, after 4 plow jobs on my 1/4 mile long driveway and parking area. Also I have found the shifting is much easier. Does yours go into gear hard? Remove that POS you won't regret it. Just cannot understand why they even put that hunk of crap in there in the first place. I've owned many four wheelers over the years with nary a problem this thing has been a pain in the A**.

I'll never put mine back in! When I first started traveling with my Prowler I bought a new oneway bearing for my road kit! I now have two taking up space on my shelf! LOL , my Prowler seems like a different machine! Below 10 mph, I can gain some engine braking by blipping the throttle! Over 10,000 miles on mine now, and still on the original brake pads!

Removed and discarded! Never looked back! LOL The only time I really noticed any big difference was on a very steep incline down hill! Had to tap the brakes several times!

Please help not sure if it's drive belt or one way differential, I have a 2014 prowler hdx 500 xt, was driving fine this morning and suddenly
It won't go anymore, turns on fine both on park and neautral, Axel's are not locked up when in neautral. There isn't anything wrong when it's cranked up either on park and neautral stars jut fine. I've read some things I think I can be either one way dif or broken drive belt?

Welcome to the forum! Could be several things, broken belt, or an oil seal allowing oil to leak into the clutch cover. One way bearing should allow some type of movement. There is a drain plug on the clutch cover, pull it and see if anything drains out, or pull the clutch air out duct work and look at the belt.

Pull the skid plate under he motor and you should see a 1/4" plug in the bottom of the case. Learning to maintain these things is not to hard, the service manuals are a great help. K&T lawn equipment has free downloads on many models, and years. My Prowler was my first experience with any ATV/UTV, so I made a lot of mistakes learning how to work on it! Get a manual, and ask a lot of questions! The forums are here for you!

Removed the one way, worked for a few days, now I have a high pitched rapid rattling noise coming from the clutch assembly, especially when deacceleration, under load it's fine at least if I maintain a speed of 5 mph. Anyone know what might be causing this?? I can still plow albeit slowly, maybe I will just run it until it blows... then I will know for sure what it is =).

Could it be driveline noise? The one way masks a lot of other sounds. Other than the noise how does it perform?

I don't believe it's driveline noise

The noise is coming from inside the primary clutch as near as I can tell anyway. Just a fast loud rattle and only when over 5mph or not under load. I'm going to have to tear it down again probably to see what is going on.
